Knowing how to add and subtract numbers is only part of learning to balance a checkbook and make a budget. A Scholastic Playwright and National Board Certified Teacher put together a hands-on, classroom or group project, called the Checkbook Project. This project is geared toward 3rd – 8th graders, but would be a good review for older kids too. While this is ideally for a classroom or group setting, if you have multiple kids in this age range you could do this with them or in a co-op.
